Who We Are

Stoughton Grange Psychology is a private practice based in Leicester specialising in Clinical Psychology.

We offer talking therapy to individuals and families through direct self-referral. Referrals from insurance companies are accepted and consultation and supervision to other professionals are available by request.

Stoughton Grange Psychology is run by Dr Catherine (K.A. Kate) Horn who has over 20 years clinical experience. Dr Horn is a graduate of Reading University and has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Leicester. She currently works with adults, children and families and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (hcpc) who regulate to ensure the quality and safety of all Clinical Psychologists. She is also chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Talking therapy helps people to understand their problems and to identify the factors maintaining these. In turn this informs any interventions needed. Dr Horn integrates different therapeutic approaches depending on the particular difficulty and presentation, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). She is a qualified Systemic Practitioner and is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is used in the treatment of trauma.

How We Help

Psychology is the study of how we think, feel and behave. Clinical Psychologists apply this knowledge through talking therapy in order to reduce psychological distress and promote psychological well-being.

We offer an assessment that typically takes place over the first two sessions and is designed to help you to work out where your difficulties come from and what may be maintaining them.

We develop a shared understanding or “formulation” of your difficulties from the assessment.  The formulation is a working hypothesis about what has contributed to your current situation and what may be preventing recovery.

Using the formulation, we can then agree the best next steps.

We offer individualised sessions tailored to your particular needs and circumstances.

We provide a safe and non judgmental space in which to discuss and explore your difficulties. We take a collaborative approach to enable you to increase self-awareness and promote emotional well-being

Sessions are private and information is kept confidential. The only exception to this is if there are concerns about your safety or that of another person, in which case we will agree together who this information might be shared with. This will be discussed with you in full at the start of your first session. Your personal data is processed and stored securely.

Sessions take place online using Zoom and are 50-60 minutes long. Initially appointments are likely to be weekly but the number and frequency will be different for everyone and will be agreed individually

Fees vary depending upon the type of work.  For individuals, couples and families an indicative hourly rate is between £100-£120.

Fees for insurance clients are available on request.  Training and supervision costs are dependent on requirements.  Please get in touch to discuss.  Payment to be taken at the end of each session

Please note: Changes to appointment dates and times and cancellations must be made in advance. Less than 48 hours notice may incur a full session fee
